Celebrate the lives of people with disabilities at the ReelAbilities Chicago Disabilities Film Festival in Oak Park. Explore film, art and performance April 25-29 that will open your mind and heart.

Never before presented in Chicagoland, ReelAbilities Chicago Disabilities Film Festival features award-winning films, thoughtful panel discussions, art gallery works and live musical performances that bring together the community to celebrate the lives of people with disabilities.

FILM: “Crooked Beauty“ & “Shooting Beauty”, documentaries
AUDIENCE: "Shooting Beauty" is recommended for ages 13 and older. "Crooked Beauty" is recommended for ages 15 and older.
STORY: “Crooked Beauty” is a poetic documentary chronicling artist-activist Jacks Ashley McNamara's transformative journey from childhood abuse to psych ward inpatient to pioneering mental health advocacy. “Shooting Beauty” is the story of an aspiring fashion photographer, Courtney Bent, who discovers a hidden world of beauty at a center for people living with significant disabilities.
SPECIAL FEATURES: The Arts of Life Band will perform danceable party music with a rock edge after the showing of Crooked Beauty and Shooting Beauty. The Arts of Life Band is an ongoing collaborative project between artists with and without disabilities in the Chicago area. The Arts of Life Band rocks out in well known venues such as the Empty Bottle and the HideOut Inn.
