On a single day, Tuesday, May 12, 2015, an exciting region-wide conversation was held to discuss the ways in which we have the power to make our communities stronger, safer and more dynamic.  Chicago Community Trust has learned from philanthropists over the last hundred years that we must come together, collaborate more, be more civically involved and more committed to our community. That is what On the Table 2015 is all about.

They shared, “People make ‘good’ happen every day. We are inspired by your commitments to strengthen our communities and help others. Your service and commitments, both great and small, are the essence of philanthropy. Philanthropy isn’t just million dollar donations – it is also bake sales, clothing drives and soup kitchens. The spirit of philanthropy is found inside the dedicated volunteer, devoted mentor and the compassionate person who looks in on a neighbor. Philanthropy is inside each of us.”

Chicago Community Trust’s goal is ambitious. They want to start a movement that re-imagines philanthropy and makes our region the most generous and compassionate in the nation – to do so, we need your help. We want to amplify and share your stories of commitment and generosity – inspiring others to channel their inner philanthropist and make a commitment to do more: more charity, more volunteerism and more sharing.

Over the course of the next year, UCP Seguin, in partnership with Chicago Community Trust and MB Financial Bank, will host a series of monthly discussions on how we can redefine philanthropy and share our stories about all the different ways we can give and enrich the lives of those in our community.
